Many doctors choose Carestream because of its Many doctors choose Carestream because of the fully integrated imaging workflow built into Carestream CS Imaging software. If you’re a current Carestream customer, let us remind you of one of the least talked about features of Carestream technologies - they are all designed to integrate together in the CS Imaging software platform. This is a huge benefit for anyone utilizing other Carestream solutions, from CBCT to digital intraoral sensors.
Before we begin detailing each of the Carestream extraoral imaging systems, we first need to touch on the “fork in the road” between determining if you’re set with 2D imaging, or are ready to upgrade to 3D imaging.
Typically, 3D dental cone beam will come as a larger upfront investment. But, keep in mind, many doctors who have successfully integrated CBCT into their practice tend to find ways to quickly recover their investment cost and achieve a quick ROI.
- Carestream 3D: All current Carestream 3D systems available today will combine traditional 2D imaging (panoramic and optional cephalometric) with advanced 3D imaging capabilities. With a variety of field of view (FOV) options, Carestream CBCT models are popularly used for implant planning, orthodontics, endodontics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Note: Determining the right FOV for your needs will help you find the right system for your practice.
- Carestream 2D: Designed for efficient 2D imaging, Vatech 2D models offer exceptional image quality and diagnostic versatility. With panoramic, cephalometric, and bitewing imaging modes, these systems provide essential imaging capabilities for routine examinations, treatment planning, and follow-up assessments.
Most manufacturers develop their own proprietary imaging software. Additionally, this model is popular because of its small footprint, a compact machine that fits most exam room configurations.
At 75 microns, the CS 8100 3D delivers ultra-high resolution images that are ideal for endodontics. Meanwhile, the ANR algorithm reduces image noise while preserving clinical details.
The CS 8200 3D takes many of the popular features from the CS 8100 3D (including ultra-lose dosage and compact design) and expands upon them by providing additional selectable fields of view.
With nine selectable fields of view, ranging from 4x4 cm to 12x10 cm, this model was designed to cover virtually all the diagnostic needs of dental and specialty practices.
