Why PreXion?

Before we dive into each of their current models, let’s review some of the reasons doctors are choosing PreXion when selecting a CBCT imaging system, or even when upgrading from 2D. Below are the core value propositions of all current PreXion models.

Unparalleled Imaging Quality

PreXion's CBCT systems are renowned for their high-resolution imaging capabilities. The brand utilizes state-of-the-art technology to capture images in fine detail, helping doctors make precise diagnoses and devise optimal treatment plans.

User Experience

Ease of use can often go under-appreciated when it comes to dental technology, but not for PreXion. The brand prioritizes developing user-friendly interfaces and software solutions, ensuring that dental professionals can easily navigate through the imaging and diagnostic process. This emphasis on the user experience also accelerates the learning curve, enabling quicker adoption of new technologies.

Versatility

From oral surgery to implantology and orthodontics, PreXion’s CBCT systems are designed to suit a wide variety of clinical applications. Dental professionals across different specialties have found value in incorporating PreXion systems into their practices, highlighting the brand's wide-ranging utility. There’s a reason you’ll find PreXion exhibiting at nearly every major dental conference, like the AAO, AAE, AGD and more.

Focus on Safety

Another cornerstone of the PreXion brand is its commitment to patient safety. Their imaging systems help reduce radiation by offering a range of scan modes that optimize exposure based upon the area of anatomy needing to be examined.. These systems can scan in as little as 5.2 seconds in an ultra low dose mode when necessary.

And.. Let’s Talk About Software

When it comes to CBCT, most manufacturers develop their own 3D imaging software for image optimization, manipulation and treatment planning. Ease of use and intuitive functionality are the main aspects that you’ll want to consider beyond treatment planning tools you’ll utilize. You need to be confident you and your staff will be able to easily navigate the software in order to  maximize the benefits of CBCT without an overly extensive learning curve.

The latest software package with PreXion 3D systems is highly regarded in the dental community. Here a few of the reasons why the PreXion 3D Viewer imaging software stands out from the competition:

- Multi-Data Feature: Load multiple patient scans on a single screen. Synchronize pre- and post-operative scans and detect differences, slice-by-slice.

- Patient Education and Presentation: In dentistry today, “seeing is believing.” Being able to quickly capture 3D animated video clips and display them to patients can be a great communication tool. In turn, doctors see greater treatment acceptance by being able to show their patients what’s going on with their oral health and help them truly understand the proposed course of action.

- Collaborative Tools: The PreXion 3D imaging software allows you to automatically save 3D image reports to a MS Word template and attach to the patient's practice management record. This helps bridge collaboration with referring dentists by burning a patient disc with a sample 3D viewer. You can also capture and email images quickly.

- Remote Access: This feature is fairly unique to PreXion’s 3D software. The Remote Access features allows you to work on cases from home or a satellite office without long connectivity delays.

- Thin Client Server: PreXion3D CBCT scanners do not require computer hardware upgrades. It does not slow down network bandwidth like other CBCT scanners.

- Save Scenes: Save your case workup as a scene or create multiple saved scenes with a single scan.

- 3D Templates: Save time with over 20 pre-made 3D volume rendering templates or customize your own.

- Slab and Cutting: This unique Slab Feature allows the clinician to see inside structures while rotating the 3D image. Cut away structures to see exactly what is pertinent to your study.

Now, Let’s Compare PreXion CBCT Models

Now that we’ve shared what all PreXion CBCT models have in common, let’s see how they differ.

PreXion Explorer CBCT Models

PreXion currently offers two editions of their Explorer model, the Explorer PRO and Explorer EX. The main difference between these two models is the availability of cephalometric imaging.

The PreXion Explorer PRO is the world’s first 3D CBCT with an integrated ceph X-ray, making it an ideal fit for orthodontic work, especially where space may be limited. With a range of additional features, it is ideal for many additional clinical applications, but the reason you might choose an Explorer PRO over an Explorer EX is for the built-in ceph system.

If you are a general or specialty practice, but have a traveling orthodontist in the office routinely (or plan to), you may still want to consider an Explorer PRO to cover your long-term imaging needs.

Both Explorer CBCT models provide an accurate 360˚ panoramic perspective from 523 to 1,024 projected views. PreXion Explorer models offer up to a large field of view with detail sizes of 5x5cm, 10x10cm, 15x10cm, and 15x16cm.

Large FOV cone beam systems are necessary for evaluating trauma cases, TMJ disorders, airway and sleep apnea studies, ectopic and impacted teeth and third molars, orthognathic surgery, and assessing skeletal symmetry. Doctors in oral surgery, orthodontics, and sleep medicine will find this size to be the most helpful.

Plus, all products in the Explorer CBCT family also utilize one of the smallest focal spots in the industry at 0.3mm for all field of view (FOV) sizes, and voxel sizes ranging from 0.07mm to 0.3mm in order to maintain image quality. The output brings an ultra-HD with a small voxel size, enabling a more detailed representation of even the finest structures. This feature is particularly necessary and ideal for endodontic work as well as single implants.

Both the PreXion Explorer EX and Explorer PRO have the capability to capture and extract 2D panoramic images from 3D volumes. With “True” and “Reconstructed” panorama modes, you can see a high definition 2D panoramic.

And, the Explorer CBCT models are known for their compact size, a small-footprint machine designed to fit most exam room configurations.
