- Vatech 3D: Any Vatech 3D system you'll find will combine traditional 2D imaging with advanced 3D imaging capabilities. With a variety of field of view (FOV) options, it enables clinicians to capture detailed panoramic, cephalometric, and 3D cone beam images. These versatile systems are particularly valuable for implant planning, orthodontics, endodontics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Note: Determining the right FOV for your needs will help you find the right system for your practice. In our guide below, we will help you learn the FOV sizes available with each model and how these are typically used in clinical application.
- Vatech 2D: Designed for efficient 2D imaging, Vatech 2D models offer exceptional image quality and diagnostic versatility. With panoramic, cephalometric, and bitewing imaging modes, these systems provide essential imaging capabilities for routine examinations, treatment planning, and follow-up assessments.
Now that you have a better idea of which system you may need, let’s look at the current Vatech 3D models available to help compare and pinpoint the right system for you.
As previously mentioned, when shopping for a dental cone beam system, you need an idea of the maximum field of view (FOV) size that you’ll need for your practice and patients.
CBCT systems are typically categorized by three FOV groups: small, medium, and large. And, keep in mind, with Vatech your medium and large FOV cone beam dental systems can collimate down to achieve smaller FOV sizes, when needed.
Here’s a brief overview of how each FOV size is used so you can match your needs with the best Vatech model to narrow your options.
- Small FOV CBCT typically captures a 5 x 5 cm scan to capture fine details. A small FOV dental cone beam system is the right choice for you if you only need to view one or two teeth at a time and is best suited for endodontics and single implant treatments.
- Medium FOV CBCT typically captures an 8 x 8 cm scan or similar for single or dual arch applications, and is the most common CBCT size based on its versatility. These systems are often the best choice for most general dentists, are ideal for surgical guides, viewing impacted teeth, and other applications requiring one or more full dental arches.
- Large FOV starts around 13-15 cm and can go as large as 17-23 cm. Large FOV cone beam systems are necessary for evaluating trauma cases, TMJ disorders, airway and sleep apnea studies, ectopic and impacted teeth and third molars, orthognathic surgery, and assessing skeletal symmetry. Doctors in oral surgery, orthodontics, and sleep medicine will find this size to be the most helpful.
When it comes to CBCT, most manufacturers need to develop their own 3D imaging software for handling image visualization, optimization and treatment planning. 3D imaging softwares can vary greatly, especially when it comes to intuitive functionality and ease of use. Ultimately, it’s definitely something you should take into consideration when shopping around for a CBCT system.
You want to feel confident you and your staff will receive proper training and be able to navigate the equipment in order to maximize on your benefits of CBCT. Fortunately, the EzDent-i 3D imaging software through Vatech is highly regarded in the dental community.
EzDent-i includes robust dental CBCT management tools such as image analysis and planning functions, to streamline diagnoses and patient care. Plus, the software makes it easy to capture, store, and share cone beam images with labs, referrals, patients and more.
Now, with a better understanding of 3D imaging with Vatech, let’s help you find the right Vatech CBCT system for your needs by understanding each available model:
Capturing an 8x8cm scan, the Vatech A9 is ideal for fundamental diagnoses and treatment planning. This model captures both the maxillary and mandibular areas in a single scan. It is useful for implant surgeries and diagnoses.
As a medium FOV CBCT, this model is a great entry point for doctors just getting started with 3D imaging, based on its versatility. This machine is equipped with advanced features to provide comprehensive 3D imaging solutions that are tailored to suit a broad spectrum of dental specialties, from periodontology to implantology.
Doctors also choose the Vatech A9 for its features, including the proprietary Magic Pan feature, which uses AI to examine hundreds of layers of panoramic images to provide the most precise and high quality 2D image on top of its 3D imaging capabilities. Orthodontists also benefit with the Vatech A9 unit’s rapid ceph technology, used to minimize motion artifacts for a faster diagnostic workflow.
